Wooster, Ohio, is a city of about 26,000 located approximately in northeastern Ohio, about midway between Columbus and Cleveland. It is the county seat of Wayne County. The city of Wooster maintains a combination of education, agriculture and industry. It has its own daily newspaper and has many parks and cultural activities as well.

Education, agriculture and industry

The College of Wooster, a liberal arts college founded in 1866, offers Bachelor Degrees in music, art and music education. The Ohio State University has two subsidiaries in Wooster. The Agricultural Technical Institute (ATI), which is an associate degree program, is part of the Ohio State College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. Additionally, Wooster is home to the Ohio State University’s Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center (OARDC), which is a research and teaching facility devoted to agricultural science that helps local farmers by sharing new information and expertise. Youth in Wooster are active in various agriculturally related programs, such as 4-H and the Future Farmers of America (FFA). Wooster has a year-round farmer’s market, called Local Roots, and industries such as Wooster Brush and Buehler Food Markets, Inc.

Wooster has a daily newspaper called the Daily Herald with its headquarters in downtown Wooster. There is also a weekly newspaper here called the Wooster Weekly News as well as an interactive city magazine online called WoosterGrapeVine.com.

Parks and culture

Wooster has numerous parks offering activities ranging from fishing ponds to hiking trails, cross-country skiing trails and a dog park. The Wooster Symphony Orchestra and the Ohio Light Opera offer cultural entertainment.
