Wayne County Fairgrounds in Wooster, Ohio

The Wayne Country Fairgrounds, located in Wooster, Ohio, have remained the home of the Wayne County Fair for more than 160 years, making it one of the oldest and largest county fairs in the United States.
The annual fair
The fair, held annually in September, is the fairgrounds' main event, and its facilities are customized for hosting that event. The fair is six days long and primarily focuses on showmanship and the local youth's livestock. Cattle, goats, sheep, pigs, rabbits, chickens and a number of other animals are showed and judged. Other events include grandstand performances by major country artists, a modified tractor pull, a demolition derby and a number of others. A carnival is hosted on the grounds. Tickets are sold both to individual events and to the fair as a whole.
The camp grounds
In recent years, a campground was added to the Wayne County Fairground site. Camper sites include both water and electric and are available to the public for rent both during the fair and during the off season, when the fair is not in progress. The fair grounds also offer space for winter storage, at the rate. Space is rented by the foot, with a minimum rental of 9.5 feet.
The fairgrounds are a rich asset to both Wayne County and Wooster, Ohio. The fair is a reason to celebrate the FFA and 4-H sponsored programs in the county and to rally around the youth and their accomplishments. It is also a final opportunity to celebrate the summer before the cold of fall sets in and outdoor entertainment is no longer appropriate.
